PUTIGNANO: DAL 1394 ENERGIA A BUON MERCATO.

Naturalmente, innumerevoli città d’arte offrono cento ragioni per essere visitate e cento feste sono più famose della nostra. Quanto proponiamo da secoli non è uno spettacolo in cerca di pubblico, né un effetto speciale a cui assistere attoniti.
I nostri sono ingredienti di una ricetta semplice: acqua, colla, carta, le pietre bianche di un borgo, le toppe colorate di un vestito, una musica da strada, orsi impertinenti, corna, sottani e baffi con la gonna. Noi siamo veramente poco seri!
Con un Carnevale che incomincia il 26 dicembre e finisce il martedì grasso, porta di una terra che chiamano Valle d’Itria, in Puglia, a 14 km dalla città dei trulli, a cinque da Castellana Grotte, assediati da castelli federiciani e chiese romaniche, costretti a mangiar prodotti genuini, a subire le influenze di un clima mite, a divertirci da oltre seicento anni... Insomma noi: come potremmo vincere il confronto?
Ma l’inverno è freddo e si sa...

Putignano: great energy since 1394

Sure, there may be tons of other artistic cities out there, each with numerous reasons to be visited. And sure, there may be hundreds of events more famous than ours.
Yet, what we have been offering for centuries is not a show that is looking for an audience, nor special effects to serve the astonished. We use ingredients from a simple recipe: water, glue, paper, the white stones surrounding our village, dress colored clouts, street music, bratty bears, horns, soutanes and mustaches...
We are hardly serious people!
From 26th of December till Shrove Tuesday, you can enjoy our Carnival, located at the gateway to the Itria Valley Lands in Apulia, 14km from the city of Trullis and only 5 from the Castellana’s Caves. Surrounded by castles of Frederick II and Romanesque churches, the only thing you can eat is our local and pure food, and you’ll have to adapt to our warm and mild weather conditions and have fun like we have had for more than six hundred years... In short, how could we ever compete? The winter may be cold, but as you know...
